Areas Of Focus GFIC as an independent organization will work with already established local and international organizations in a partnership role in building strategies to realize long term and sustainable results and to maximize already scarce resources. To ensure success, the programs and strategies will be developed in consultation with partner organizations and community leaders. The guiding principle will remain the, development of individual responsibility in a global context. HIV/AIDS Sub Saharan Africa has been the hardest hit part of theWorld in terms of HIV/AIDS infections and deaths. The continued poverty and slow economic development with high rates of unemployment mean that young people, especially women, look to other ways to earn a living, including prostitution at early ages. High rates of illiteracy also contribute to infection rates as fewer people are well informed about practice of safe sex. As well, cultural traditions encourage multiple sex partners.

GFIC can help by working with communities to educate and promote safe sex to young people. In turn, these young adults will help to create links with the rural communities in HIV /AIDS campaigns. Support literacy programs that emphasize the fight against the epidemic. GFIC can help by engaging young people across the spectrum to participate in the fight and use lessons learned to develop similar programs in other parts of the world. Interactive seminars and workshops would facilitate dialogue and action through initiatives.

economic development Emphasis must be focused on economic development. Most of the problems commonly associated with Africa are a direct result of poverty and high rates of illiteracy. Working with government and focusing on vulnerable groups such as women and young unemployed adults in designing and developing sustainable projects will improve economic well being. It is also important to improve agricultural production through promotion of modern farming methods. Micro credit facilities where such groups can access low interest loans for small businesses is an important initiative that will be undertaken.

community developmentWe will promote the formation of integrated community development associations to encourage the start of income generating projects and social integration. It is vitally important to strengthen the communities by integrating orphaned and vulnerable children into their communities and getting street children o the street. Such e orts will help to empower the communities and orphans by providing them with social support services to uplift their living standards and ultimately reduce poverty.

environmental protection and conservation The natural habitats of Africa's tropical rainforests are fast disappearing due to deforestation resulting from the desire for fertile agricultural land and due to the abundant use of wood as a fuel and energy source. We will approach this challenge by working through government environmental policies to develop sustainable energy alternatives for rural communities. In this manner, we will also contribute to minimizing air pollution from fuel emissions into the atmosphere.

information technology Providing access to the internet and training in computer usage, will improve information gathering and data maintenance for different establishments including schools, health centers and local NGO's. Today the world economy is driven by technology and access to free flowing information through the internet. IT is a vital tool in the development process but such access is not commonly accessible in many countries in the less developed world.
