GFiC is built on a foundational insight: being a human rights leader is lonely, difficult, and chronically under-resourced. Our six-month program is designed to change that, by meeting Fellows where they are, providing practical tools, and building a community that lasts long after the program ends.

“I would like to highlight the importance of the Fellowship as a space of care for human rights defenders. Beyond the programme’s intellectual and technical value, the financial support provided and the intentional spaces to step back from daily work were deeply meaningful.
— 2025 Fellow, Tanzania
Although our Fellows are early in their careers (aged 25 to 35) the scale of their collective impact is remarkable. The 2025 cohort self-reported reaching more than 1.6 million beneficiaries through their work.
Some Fellows are reaching hundreds of thousands through large-scale advocacy and policy campaigns. Others are working intensively with smaller groups through direct legal, health, or educational services. Together they represent every scale of human rights work, from individual casework to systemic change.
Discover the journeys of our Fellows — past and present — as they create change around the world. These stories celebrate their values, amplify their impact, and inspire future leaders, partners, and supporters.
In an era of rising authoritarianism, increasing restrictions on rights and freedoms and cuts to foreign aid, GFiC's work to increase
the confidence and effectiveness of young leaders is more essential than ever.
As we reflect on 2025 and plan for 2026, we thank our current supporters and invite new partners to join our mission.
